It’s Survey Time!

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Want to earn yourself some extra GP?  Well, you’ve come to the right… page.  Below there are links to three surveys.  The first survey is from Game Usagi and will help us find out what you think about our new features.  The next two surveys are from the University of Saskatchewan regarding what you as a gamer think about Food and Gaming, which are obviously two of the most important things around.  So, if you complete the Game Usagi Survey you’ll get 15 GP, if you complete the two UofS surveys you’ll get 40 GP and if you do all three you’ll get a whopping 60 GP!  (Email miyamoto [at] gameusagi.com after you’ve completed said surveys and the appropriate points will be added to your account.)

The Most Expensive GIF(s) Ever [UPDATE]

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

[UPDATE 2: Things are generally working alright now on COD Elite, but everyone should take a lesson from this and remember that however many servers you have, you'll always need more than twice as many. ^_^]

[UPDATE: Call of Duty Elite is still mostly down, but an update was posted that says that paying members will get an extra month of the service for free and the timeframe to register as a "founder" has been extended to the end of the month.  Also, now they've implemented a waiting system that makes you wait in line to access the website's error page.  With this comes another GIF (!) so now users are getting twice the value for their money, huzzah!]

Behold the most expensive GIF available to gamers today.  Normally to see this you have to pay for a $50 membership or buy a $99 game bundle, but Game Usagi has managed to get a hold of it for you for free!

For those of us who have yet to get Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (MW3), the prognosis for Beachhead’s premium stat-tracking and content delivery system Call of Duty Elite is rather bleak.  The website that costs essentially as much as a game for premium access has basically been entirely down since the game’s launch at 12:01 AM this morning.  When trying to access the site you just spent upwards of $50 for, all you currently see is a message saying that the site is down temporarily and the GIF that encompasses the whole of the website’s current features as shown above.

From my playing around in the game thus far, it’s been pretty good.  I’m still getting my mind around the several extra layers of complexity and leveling that they’ve added, but overall I think this will be a worthy game once people who fork over extra money get more than a 2-frame animated web image to look at.

The official word right now is that they’ve been receiving more registration requests than they could have imagined in their wildest dreams and that has apparently completely shut them down.  As we’re waiting with baited breath we have to wonder just how much money they were trying to save by skimping on the servers and hope that we get some kind of token apology for all of this when it’s over.

You can check the site’s status here or on their Twitter feed.

Nintendo 3DS Conference 2011

Monday, September 12th, 2011

Nintendo is having a conference regarding the state and future of the 3DS tonight at 9:00 PM CST.

While no one is entirely sure what will be discussed at this event, it’s more than likely to feature the Monster Hunter Tri-G and additional enormous circle pad attachment for the 3DS.  Other more vague rumours regarding this conference include:

  • Mach Rider Unchained, a dark sequel to the old Mach Rider game for the NES for 3DS
  • A new Baten Kaitos game for 3DS with the title of Baten Kaitos: Silence of a Mechanized Son
  • A new 3DS-lite or 3DSXL-style model with the second cicle pad built-in
  • A new portable system to altogether replace the 3DS
  • A new Yoshi side-scroller developed by Good-Feel for the 3DS;
  • A new game from the WarioWare team;
  • A new Etrian Odyssey for the 3DS;
  • A new Hatsune Miku for the 3DS, including all songs from Project DIVA 1 and 2;
  • A remake of Suda51’s The Silver Case for the 3DS;
  • A new Ace Attorney game, featuring a Miles Edgeworth scenario, for the 3DS;
  • The new game from Alchemist, supposedly a “moe mistery” game for the 3DS;
  • The debut of 3DS game demos on the eShop, starting with Super Mario 3D Land.

We’ll find out the truth soon enough.  This conference, which should primarily be in Japanese, will be available streaming live on Ustream.tv.  After the conference, we will update you on what game-changing (or not) information comes out of this conference.
