As many of you may or may not know the Game Developers Conference had taken place March 23-27, which means you should be expecting a ton of news about games.

onlive_logo_whiteThe future of gaming may have been revealed at GDC with the announcement of OnLive. OnLive will let practically anyone with a PC or Mac no matter how powerful the machine is play games, even games that need a powerful rig to play such as Crysis. The reason you will be able to play such powerful games on a low end machine is because your computer will connect to an extremely powerful server which relays everything to you, so the only thing you will need is a good internet connection. Not only will this work on PC and Mac but also your TV via OnLive MicroConsole.  That $500 laptop you bought for school can now play the same games as your buddies $1500 computer with the same graphic settings. This very well could change the way we play games and open up many opportunities to play games for those who don’t have powerful computers or the cash to purchase a console. Isn’t the internet great? Are you curious and want to check it out? Click here to head to the OnLive website. If OnLive catches on it could mean trouble for hardware companies such as Microsoft, Sony, Nvidia, Intel etc… The need for powerful hardware would decrease as gamers wouldn’t need the $500 console or video card anymore. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Here is a video from IGN displaying Crysis running on a laptop using OnLive, click here to be see the video.

Besides already working on Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, keeping World of Warcraft up to date and a still unannounced MMO, Blizzard is working on a new project. This game will be the start of a new franchise and have nothing to do with any of Blizzards other games. Details are very slim and knowing how tightly Blizzard works I wouldn’t be surprised if Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 are released before we hear more about this new IP.

fable_2_knothole_mountain_snowLionHead isn’t done with Fable 2 just yet, through an interview between IGN and Peter Molyneux we have been told there is new DLC for Fable 2 named See the Future. See the Future will be tying some loose connections between the first Fable and the second one. Expect for this new content to have a story focused around Theresa along with new gameplay mechanics and new challenges. The new DLC should be eating up your Microsoft points this spring.

Two brand new videos of Mass Effect 2 were shown at GDC, keep in mind though that the game is still in pre-Alpha, so don’t expect full-blown gameplay footage or off-the-wall trailers. One of the videos is a cutscene with an Asari character and a male in N7 armor. The second video is some gameplay footage, so far it appears to be very similar to the original Mass Effect which is good no doubt. Take a look for yourself, click here to take a look at those videos.

If you have never heard of Prototype then I guess you don’t follow too closely with gaming news, which is exactly why we here at Game Usagi do it for you. Prototype is an open-world sandbox game like GTA IV, though you are not a regular human. Your character has some insane looking powers, such as being able to take on the form of anyone you come in contact with, incredible strength, the ability to shape shift to form your own unique weapons and some mind blowing devastator attacks. You have got to check out this Top 10 Reasons You Must Have trailer. I for one am very excited for this game.

Lastly, Nintendo announced a new Zelda game for the DS. The game is called Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. The main difference in Spirit Tracks is that Link no longer has a boat, yes sad I know but he now has a train! Who would have thought a train? The game sports the same graphics style as it’s predecessor and will of course feature more of the similar puzzles, boss fights and wicked boomerang action.060714-hands-on-phantom-hourglass-01
