Microsoft E3 2011 Conference Review

Monday, June 6th, 2011

I looked into the past of Game Usagi and it turns out that we apparently haven’t done press conference reviews since 2008.  This year’s conference reviews will take this form:  a list of highlights of the conference, a list of “lowlights” of the conference, a list of neutral information and then a summary and an overall conference score.  Check out after the jump for the 2011 review of Microsoft’s E3 Press conference:

Usagi3 and WWDC Conference Times [update]

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

[Update:  Added links to available live video streams of conferences.  We're linking the official streams where available and the Gamespot streams, as in the past Gamespot has proven to have the quickest streams.]

In slightly less than a week’s time we’ll know all about Nintendo’s next home console, the 3DS eShop, Sony’s next portable console (NGP or PSVita?), and… well Microsoft will have something presumably.

Apple is also holding WWDC at basically the exact same time as the Microsoft E3 press conference, so we’ll get to learn about the next iterations of iOS and OSX too.

We’ll be liveblogging at least the Microsoft and Nintendo conferences this year, and just so you know, the conference times in CST are as follows:

Microsoft: 10:30 AM – June 6th — Official StreamGamespot Stream
WWDC Keynote:  11:00 AM – June 6th  — Official SteamTWiT Live Stream
Sony:  6:00 PM – June 6th — Official StreamGamespot Stream
Nintendo: 10:00 AM – June 7th — Official StreamGamespot Stream

So, stay tuned for our coverage of the most wonderful time of the year for gamers and tech enthusiasts alike.

Server Upgrade – Pardon our Dust

Monday, May 16th, 2011

We’re upgrading our server currently, so the site may not work at 100% capacity for the next 6 hours or so.  When all is said and done, though, Game Usagi will perform like an even faster and more secure bunny.  There’s some nice things in the upgrade for us too including better stats tracking and automated backups.  So, if you’re having problems with the site today, worry not as all will be better very soon.

Project Café/Wii 2/Wii HD/Stream Mockups [update]

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Project Cafe Logo

Nintendo Project Cafe

[update:  Café seemingly confirmed as the working title for Nintendo's next console as evidenced by the above Wario-laden banner from Nintendo's support site for developers: warioworld.com]

Current mock-up count: 167

While there are some other very good mock-up archives for Nintendo’s next home console, we found that they weren’t updated often or in a thorough enough manner to satisfy our excitement for the system.  Since 4cr isn’t compiling one of their famous mockup archives this time ’round, we took it upon ourselves to build upon what’s already out there and try to make this the most comprehensive compilation of Project Café mockups available.

The first 47 of these can be attributed to David Turnbull (of Nintendo3DSBlog.com fame) and his mock-up archive that you should certainly check out and the rest are ones we have found and added ourselves.  Enjoy!

If you have any mock-ups of your own creation or ones you have found but aren’t in our list, please feel free to link to them in our comments sections or submit them to: tips@gameusagi.com
