The Battlefield franchise is well known to PC gamers, as it has a solid reputation amongst massive-multi-player shooters. Although not new to console gaming, the series has taken an abrupt turn to a story driven, single player game (don’t worry there is still a considerable multi-player component) with the arrival of Battlefield: Bad Company.

ESRB Rating: M (Mature)
Players: 1-4
Hours Played: 12
Progress: Completed Story Mode with all characters
I still remember the original Soul Edge as one of the defining 3D fighters on the PS1. That generation spawned many great fighting games but the forerunner to what would eventually be the Soul Calibur series already set itself apart with solid fight mechanics, good graphics and weapons based combat.
Many fighting game fans have been looking forward to the next Soul Calibur addition to the series for the new generation of consoles. While the weapons based combat is still a staple of the franchise, its solid graphics, character design and innovation have won new fans over the years. The game’s innovation has come from a variety of different directions; Soul Calibur has featured an adventure-style story mode, a create-a-fighter mode and special guest characters. It is especially the latter which has garnered the series some hype and interest.

Metal Gear Solid 4 (MGS 4) is the highly anticipated final chapter in the critically acclaimed saga that originated on the original NES and got re-popularized on the PS1. Fingered early on as a PS3 title, MSG 4 was originally mentioned as a possible launch title, however to fandom’s mass disappointment, got delayed several times during its long development time. Now that it’s finally here, does it live up to expectations, and does it adequately wrap up the engrossing, but convoluted storyline?

Rock Band is the first music simulation game to encompass a full band. It allows players to play drums, guitar, bass, and sing. This is the first time drumming has come to a console (at least a full drum set unlike Taiko Drum Master or Donkey Konga). Singing is much like Sing Star and the guitar/bass is much like Guitar Hero.

This is Wish Bear
Well, E3 is once again upon us, and Microsoft had a pretty good showing today, so tomorrow morning it will be up to both Nintendo and Sony to strut their respective stuffs. Thus, it is as good a time as any to make some predictions before everything starts happening tomorrow. There have been very few rumours floating around before this E3, which is quite unusual. This could either mean that big things are afoot, or that nothing much will be happening at all. GoNintendo says that Iwatadono will be making an appearance this year, and that usually spells that something big is in the cards. Here are my predictions/hopes split into two categories: Predictions and Pipe Dreams.

The Logitech Cordless MediaBoard for Playstation 3 is an all-in-one Keyboard and Mouse. It says that it is for Playstation 3, but I have tested it on a PC and it worked perfectly without any driver installation. To be more specific, I built a new system and used it to setup my BIOS settings for the first time, then to install the operating system.

New screens have emerged today of what may be the next Sonic game. Both the resolution and the general quality seem to point to the game being on either the 360 or PS3, but SEGA loves Nintendo, so some sort of similar Sonic game can essentially be assured. There are screens both from cinematics and supposed in-game play, and the difference between the two should be obvious. I’m looking forward to this game already, it looks like (if they’re real) SEGA’s trying to get Sonic back to his old awesome as opposed to the loading and bug laden last Sonic games.
You can download a .ZIP file of the images here:

Edit: A video from the Xbox 360 version of the game has been leaked! The screens are apparently from the 360 version as well. You can watch the after the jump:
Edit 2: Confirmed! Sonic Unleashed was officially accounced by SEGA to be on its way to Wii, 360, PS3, and PS2 this year.

On the surface, games can appear to be flawless, enjoyable and worth 60 dollars. Sometimes, though, you’re going to have to look deep, deep down to find these flaws. I searched for it, and sadly enough I found it. It was less of a deep, deep down and more of a start, a down, and an A button away… darn you multiplayer… darn you…
