We made a little 1200+ kilometre trip to Redmond, WA at the beginning of the week to pay a visit to Microsoft and Nintendo headquarters (which are literally a stone’s throw apart). Here are the pictures we got from Microsoft’s “Building 92” Visitor Center/Gift Shop. We first went on Labor Day and they were closed up tight, so we went back the next day and the Visitor’s Center was still closed up (but this time for new employee orientation), so we checked out the gift shop and bought a bunch of neat things — we even got a small “peek behind the curtains” by watching whoever controlled the video monitors pick out the video to play that morning. Also worthy of note: there were a bunch of Kinect stickers in the bargain bin where most gamers would agree that they belong. Check after the jump for the full gallery!
- Building D looked like it was used for game play testing or something, they still have an old Gears 3 standee in there.
- As well as some original Star Trek cast in teleporter mode.
- Not sure what these were for…
- A dude very much like the “I’m a PC” guy greeted us when we walked in the door. I think he was there to guide new employees and not someone they regularly have as a greeter.
- Looks like no one is really buying Xbox One merchandise. I wonder why…
- Hehe, Kinect.
- I didn’t flip through it, so I’m not sure what that’s about.
- Hehe, bing.
- They had a Minecraft section, which was kind of random.
- One of every Xbox model on the counter — pretty classy.
- The busses that run around the campus are called The Connectors.
