Game of the Year 2016 – Pokemon Sun/Moon

Monday, January 9th, 2017

While not a banner year for gaming of all kinds, and certainly not a banner year for the world at large with celebrity deaths, political and social upheaval and the murder of an innocent gorilla, 2016 did have a few gaming gems to keep us occupied in our respective disaster shelters.  Many games that were cultural phenomena this year like Overwatch, the new Doom, and Uncharted 4 were technically derivative of games from years past, but their new features, graphics, gameplay tweaks and characters helped them elevate gaming as a whole to new heights.  The same is especially true for our 2016 Game(s) of the Year, Pokemon Sun/Moon.

Nintendo Switch Unveiled, Launching March 2017

Thursday, October 20th, 2016

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5uik5fgIaI

Nintendo showed off the first teaser trailer and shared some details about their Nvidia-powered hybrid home console with us for the first time.  For most appearances it seems that the majority of rumours were true, it seems to act like a portable Wii U in a slim tablet design with removable side controllers called Joy-Con that can be used attached to the system, one in each hand, or attached to a middle base to act more as a classic controller.  There will also be a Switch Pro controller available that looks more or less like an Xbox 360 controller.  Some third parties you don’t normally see are involved already and Skyrim (Special Edition perhaps?) was shown running on the system.

Here are some high-res images of the system, logo, and a list of third parties already working on games.  We’ll let you know if any more substantial details arise about the exciting new platform still due out in March 2017 and launching with Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
