This very simple, free, 96k (very, very small) game is one of the funnest that I have ever played. The mechanics are simple, one button to move forward, one button to push with one hand, and one button to push with two hands. The point is to not be the first one knocked down, but that it easier said than done. Your character moves like someone on the verge of dying of alcohol poisoning, and there really isn’t a sure-fire way of staying vertical. The most fun of the game comes from either watching the characters stumble around trying to stay standing for long enough to bow to one another or playing the super-secret hidden mode (started by breaking the corner of the wall that is visible in the right-most gap between the bars on the title screen) in which you put the beatdown on a single character by throwing boxes at him (and sometimes pushing him off the edge to oblivion).

Guess what? Jack Thompson is mad about something. No! Really! While I know that this is unusual, the basic story goes that Jack Thompson is upset about the upcoming Wendy’s Wii toys. I’ll give you a minute to calm down. … Okay, so anyway, here’s the direct quote from an email that he sent to Wendy’s CEO Kerri Anderson:
“A dear friend of mine worked for Wendy?s and with Dave Thomas closely for years. From that I know that Dave Thomas never would have tolerated the use of Wendy?s good name to promote Nintendo?s Wii, not with this game available on the Wii platform.”
The game he’s refering to is Manhunt 2. A fairly decently graphic game that is being ported to the Wii pretty soon. I wonder why he didn’t complain about the Xbox 360 toys that came free in cereal a while back because GTA IV is coming to the 360…
Check out this great comic, making light of the inclusion of characters into the upcoming Wii Smash Bros. game from 2P START! They’re a pretty new webcomic, but I like them already.
