Humans of New York: The Series Impressions
September 4th, 2017 by Holly Kaupa-Predy“I started a blog because I wanted to communicate my feelings with people—the good and the bad.”
While this quote comes from a brightly dressed, middle-aged man on the streets of New York in the new video series “Humans of New York: The Series,” the sentiment could just as easily come from Brandon Stanton, creator of the series itself. Although the video version of HONY doesn’t always pack the same emotional change as its photograph-only counterpart, the first two episodes do set a promising tone and prove worth watching.
Snake Pass (Switch) Impressions [update]
March 29th, 2017 by Logan Predy
Snake Pass was one of our most anticipated indie games for the Switch in the weeks before the system’s launch. With a charming art style and a unique take on the platforming genre Snake Pass seemed to be the perfect game to complement Breath of the Wild and the other launch window games. In addition to its obvious charms, Snake Pass was also notable in being the first game to bring the Unreal Engine 4 to the Switch and was able to launch simultaneously with all of the other major platforms in spite of the particularly short window in which it was ported. The developers were kind enough to supply us with a review code to spend some time with the game a day early, so here are our initial impressions of and challenges we had with the game.
Super Bomberman R (Switch) Screenshots Blowout
February 24th, 2017 by Logan PredyKonami released their final big pre-launch batch of Super Bomberman R screenshots from the Switch. Check after the jump for them separated into single player/co-op and multiplayer galleries — the Story Mode is certainly looking pretty interesting, but another thing to note in the screenshots is how aliased the game’s graphics are even in their marketing materials.
Farewell to the Wii U – Top 5 Exclusive Games
February 21st, 2017 by Logan PredyWith the Nintendo Switch launching next Friday and games like Horizon Zero Dawn for PS4 which many are predicting will be one of the year’s top sellers releasing next week, the stalwart Wii U that was home to some legitimately engaging games in spite of largely lacklustre sales will be sailing off into the distance to be remembered as an odd step in Nintendo’s unique console history. In honour of our comrade of the last few years, Game Usagi presents a list of our top 5 exclusive Wii U titles that deserve to be played and remembered not for their sales, but for the joy they can still bring even as other fancier Nintendo hardware is shortly set to take the stage.

More on the Inside of the Nintendo Switch Dock
February 12th, 2017 by Logan PredyOur original picture of the inside of the dock went viral in its own way as everyone is thirsting for more information on the Switch as its launch date quickly approaches. I’ve seen a lot of people strangely concerned with screen scratches and the dock though, so I went back to the dock pictures I took that I originally rejected because they were too blurry. While blurry and not bright enough at the time, I lightened them some in Photoshop and they give some more angles of what I am assuming are the rubber runners inside the dock that make contact with the bezel instead of the screen — preventing the Switch screen from coming into contact with anything that would harm it during the docking/undocking process. You can see the new pictures below along with the video we did of the docking process, and the part of our GoPro video in which we played around with the demo Switch hardware unit. Hopefully this sheds some more light on it for everyone.
