Please do not refresh this liveblog, it automatically updates every couple of seconds to save you time!  Sony pulled out some surprises, like the PS3mote that is still in very beta stages, but works about as well as currently-existing Wii technology.

With the site down this liveblog didn’t cross-post properly, so you can check it out here:

Usagi3 (E3) Predictions

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

usagi3

It’s the most wonderful time of the year for gamers!  Yes, that magical season when Reggie Fils-Aime comes down your chimney and… shows you boring charts.  At least that’s how it went last year for Nintendo.  Reggie’s also been known to kick ass and take names every now and then.  We can all pray that they won’t let another pathetic Cammie Dunaway speech be the center of the presentation, but you never know…

So, we present to you our predictions for the E3 Press Conferences in 2009.  They are ordered by company and then by likelihood, but everything should be clear when you read it.  For convenience’s sake, the times of the E3 conferences are posted above.

Nintendo Media Summit Japan 2008

Well, after a terrible E3 this year, Nintendo set out to redeem themselves with this year’s Nintendo Media Summit. Did they succeed? OH HELLS YEAH!

Well, first off on the list of awesome is:  The Nintendo DSi.

It may look a lot like a DS lite, but there are a plethora of key differences (wording courtesy of GoNintendo, ’cause I’m tired :P):

  • 12%, 2.6 millimeters skinnier, no more GBA slot
  • bigger screens, better speakers, two cameras
  • screens are 3.25 inches
  • camera and audio functions
  • pictures taken can be able to be manipulated via touch screens
  • pitch and sound playback speed can be adjusted
  • SD card slot
  • store then view pics on Wii Photo Channel
  • internal memory for apps
  • built-in web browser
  • download DSi Ware with Nintendo Points (Wii points renamed)
  • apps will cost free/200/500/800 points.
  • owners that connect by March, 2010 will receive 1000 Points as a gift. (Japan)
  • Hits Japan on Nov 1st for 18900 yen
  • DS Station will go into its second phase, becoming the Nintendo Zone service.
  • service once again available at McDonalds
  • Nintendo Zone Viewer included, no setup needed
  • colors: white and frosted black
  • 6-9 hours of battery life on medium setting
  • the ability to download new apps and have them as “channels” in the main menu
  • GameBoy camera-like stuff for the cameras

Lots of Wii and regular DS news as well, but we’ll leave that for morning.
