BioWare surprised at the end of 2009 with what seemed like a 3D version of its venerable dungeon crawling franchise, Baldur’s Gate. In reality it combined the same great storytelling and party-based combat found in its sci-fi epic, Mass Effect but in a Dungeons & Dragons-inspired setting. The highly anticipated sequel to 2009’s Dragon Age: Origins takes a more focussed approach, centering on a family, stranded as refugees from the Blight in a strange city, far away from home. So does this change in approach pay off and does this sequel innovate enough to satisfy? Read on to find out…

When posing the question “Does it run Crysis?” to console owners, considering it was a PC-only title, the answer would always be unequivocally, “no”. But now PS3 and Xbox 360 owners need no longer feel left out as the sequel to 2007’s Crysis is finally here and available on consoles. This time around gamers will run through the crumbling city of New York instead of Asian jungles, however the frenetic FPS action along with the power of the “Nanosuit” make a welcome return. Is Crysis 2 relevant enough in this console environment populated with top notch FPS titles? Read on to find out…
Black Ops Achievement
Tuesday, January 11th, 2011By accident I discovered that I had achieved something quite special in Call of Duty Black Ops. It’s not the usual kind of achievement that gives you GamerScore points or Trophies, but a wholly more awesome one. As you can see above, in my Combat Record on Black Ops, I have made 1337 kills with my favourite weapon, the very cheap AK74u. Now I have the dilemma of deciding whether I should keep using the gun and ruin my record or try to use other weapons. ^_^ See after the jump for a detail of the awesometude.

So are these yet more overstated promises or has the prodigal son of video games finally arrived? Read on the find out…

Almost exactly 2 years to the day Bethesda published the follow-up to Fallout 3, one of the best open-world RPGs of this console generation. This time around the developer is not Bethesda Game Studios however, but Obsidian Entertainment, a group not unfamiliar with taking over a “grade A” franchise, see their development of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II for instance. Now observant people might recall that although decent, KOTOR II didn’t outshine its predecessor, so what about Fallout: New Vegas, did Obsidian manage to elevate it to new heights? Read our original Halo Reach review here
nwitbraad recently posted a glowing review for Halo Reach. I had a fairly different experience with the new Halo game and would like to share it with you. To give context, I am a proponent of Halo in general. I bought the Legendary editions of both Halo 3 and Halo Reach as well as the controller bundle of Halo 3: ODST. I have played through all of the Halo games (with the exception of Halo Wars) and enjoyed them all to varying degrees. I played 199 Halo 3 online matches since the game came out and am therefore well acquainted with the series. How much less do I think the latest Halo game deserves than the 9.4 it was awarded recently? Read more to find out…
