Well, Sony’s PS3-mote has finally been revealed and it is even more of a Wii-clone set-up than originally thought. In addition to the Playstation Move controller proper, there is also something called the “sub-controller” that functions as a wireless nunchuck with no motion-sensing abilities. Initial reports from news sources present at this year’s GDC are generally quite positive, as the added accuracy from the Playstation Eye camera fells to most like it delivers on the promises made by Nintendo so long ago that were never lived up to with the occasionally flaky Wiimote control. The price tag has yet to officially be set for the Move, but a North American launch window of “Fall 2010” was announced. I, for one, am looking forward to this control scheme’s use in Resident Evil 5, as RE4 with Wii controls was definitely the best of the series thus far. We’ll keep you posted as new media and info arrives. A couple of screenshot galleries can be seen after the jump…

Thursday, March 11th, 2010Top 10 (+9) Games of 200X
Friday, January 8th, 2010
Many a game came out over the last decade, over 11,000 incidentally, but the great majority of them were garbage churned out to either confuse consumers into purchasing them instead of a decent game, or just to make money off of people that don’t check games’ metascores. There were, however, also a good number of superb games that came out in the last 10 years. Game Usagi sifted through thousands of games to present to you this list of the best of the best from the last decade. Read on to find out what games made the list:
PAX 09 Coverage: Day 1 (updated)
Saturday, September 5th, 2009
I’m sitting here about 2/3 of the way through day 2 of PAX and only now have had time to work on the day 1 coverage of the convention for Game Usagi… that’s how busy and chock-full this show is. But let’s maybe back up for a moment and explain what PAX or Penny Arcade Expo is all about: a culmination of the success andculture of one of the most popular web comics around (Penny Arcade: www.penny-arcade.com). PAX has grown to a powerhouse in videogame conventions. The website and its resulting “expo” is the brainchild of Mike Krahulik and Jerry Hulkins who have created animated alter egos by the name of Gabe and Tycho. Born from humble beginnings, the site grew in popularity with its witty commentary on video game and table top gaming culture. PAX in its current iteration hosts the world’s biggest video game companies and their new content, along with indy game developers and also features a healthy dose of table top gaming-related exhibits.
This year is the sixth iteration of PAX, which is spread over a 3-day weekend and has been growing in size each year. PAX 09 is the first time where the show was sold out before tickets went on sale at the door. On August 21, two weeks before the start of the convention, all 3-day passes were sold out. On August 31 all single-day passes were sold out as well, drawing the largest crowd in PAX history with 75,000 PAX passes sold.
Highlights of this year’s show are:
– Live in-game demos of Star Wars the Old Republic, Splinter Cell Conviction and Assassins Creed 2.
– A keynote by Ron Gilbert.
– A world record for the most Nintendo DS’ in one place and
– Playable builds of almost all major game releases for the end of this year andbeyond.
Please note that we will add many images and videos once we get back to the office, however to keep information on PAX as current as possible, we’ll update you as the show progresses. For day 1 we had some hands-on time with a number of upcoming high profile releases:
PS3 Slim Ultimate Size Comparison
Thursday, August 27th, 2009(click all pictures to enlarge)
Well, we have our new PS3 already, and we thought that we’d give you as thorough a guide as we could to the size and general hardware features of the new PS3 Slim. So, we’ll start off with some size comparisons to the Big Daddy version of the PS3 and then carry on to compare the size of the PS3 to most other home console systems. Hopefully you will own at least one of them and be able to gauge the size of the PS3 Slim for yourself before you decide whether or not to take the plunge and purchase the system. At the end of the article we have a couple of bonus pics highlighting a nuance of the new hardware.
APRIL FOOLS – 2008 Badger Game of the Year
Wednesday, April 1st, 2009
Well, another year has gone by (a couple of months ago) and it is now time for the very first official Game Badger Game of The Year! We played a ton of games over the last year, but there is one that particularly stuck in the minds of all of the staff here as simply the best game to come out this year and perhaps the last decade.
Opinion: COD4 Vs. CODWAW It’s In The Numbers
Wednesday, March 4th, 2009RESPONSE: COD4 Vs. CODWAW Vulnerable Humility
The main difference between these two games is apparent without even discussing their content. The simple fact that not everyone knows is that these two games are made by entirely separate companies. COD4 was made by Infinity Ward, the makers of the most award-winning entries in the series. Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, and Call of Duty 4 are the sole productions of Infinity Ward. That is seriously all they make — great COD games. The first COD (Metacritic score: 91) won over 500 Game of the Year awards when it was released in 2003. Call of Duty 4 (Metacritic score: 94) holds such titles as “#1 FPS of All Time” and “#1 Best-Selling FPS Ever” with over 11 million copies sold (compared to, say, 8.1 million for Halo 3). Treyarch, overall, generally makes B-List games. Recently, in addition to CODWAW (Metacritic score: 84), they’ve made the licensed Quantum of Solace (Metacritic score: 65), Spider-Man Web of Shadows (Metacritic score: 68), Spider-Man 3 (Metacritic score: 62), and Ultimate Spider-Man (Metacritic score: 75). Treyarch has essentially never made a game on their own with a Metacritic score over 90. That is all that Infinity Ward makes. With that said, I’ll touch on the true differences between the games as well.
Top 5 PS2 RPGs For PS3 Owners
Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009When the PS3 was first launched, I got it hoping the excellent offering of RPGs (Role Playing Games) on its predecessor would be continued in this generation of gaming. By now we know that the PS3 has been worryingly short of high quality RPGs, especially ones exclusive to the console.
So in order to keep your RPG-starved PS3 gamers at least somewhat appeased, I?ve assembled a short list of relatively recent PS2 RPGs that would be a worthy edition to PS3 owner?s game collection. Assuming, of course, you are a true fanboy and got one of the backwards compatible PS3s available closer to launch (20GB, 60GB, and 80GB). If not, we?re sure you still have a PS2 kicking around? and if all else fails, pick one up for less than $100, you can?t go wrong purchasing a PS2, even amidst all of this next gen hoopla.
