ESRB Rating: E 10+
Players: 1
Hours Played: 120

Final Fantasy being one of the most popular Role Playing Game franchises of all time has created many a spin-off. One of the most revered is the Final Fantasy Tactics series, which began all the way back in 1998 with its US release on the PlayStation One. Since then a remake was created in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance (Final Fantasy Tactics Advance), with a further enhanced version appearing on the PSP in 2007 (Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions). Now turn-based strategy fans can lose more nights of sleep, as the GBA sequel receives a much anticipated follow-up with Final Fantasy Tactics A2 on the Nintendo DS.

This is Wish Bear

Well, E3 is once again upon us, and Microsoft had a pretty good showing today, so tomorrow morning it will be up to both Nintendo and Sony to strut their respective stuffs.  Thus, it is as good a time as any to make some predictions before everything starts happening tomorrow.  There have been very few rumours floating around before this E3, which is quite unusual.  This could either mean that big things are afoot, or that nothing much will be happening at all.  GoNintendo says that Iwatadono will be making an appearance this year, and that usually spells that something big is in the cards.  Here are my predictions/hopes split into two categories: Predictions and Pipe Dreams.

From The Underground: Burnout Legends PSP

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

From the Underground (FTU) is our new section for games that, while amazing, were unfortunately overlooked when they were released. The Game Usagi has gone out of its way to dig these games up from the underground to bring to light for its readers. To start us off is a game that has quickly started taking up more and more of my portable gaming time.

Burnout has always been a good series on all of the systems that have housed its iterations. This is especially true on the PSP. Now, Sony and I have never gotten along very well. So it would take an extra special game for me to acknowledge greatness on the industry’s #2 portable. Albeit, the greatness does not neccessarily come from Sony, but from EA. Sony did, however, take the leap of faith in making an over-powered portable that made this game possible.

Burnout Legends (BL) gives gamers incredible speed, silky smooth framerate, amazing graphics, and the ability to wreck some very fancy cars. The World Tour mode is where I’ve been spending most of my time, as it presents one with varied challenges and the ability to unlock new cars and events for superior performances. With 80-some cars to unlock and a plethora of adrenaline-charged races, BL is a must for any PSP gamer, even ones (like myself) who are not in to racing games at all.

For likely the vast majority of you without PSPs, is this game a system-seller? Perhaps. I think that the PSP has other games more worthy of that title (Me & My Katamari, Crush, and Loco Roco). The PSP is a solid system, even though I enjoy my DS more. Hopefully Sony will keep trying to keep this portable afloat, as I’m anxious for even more unique, original, or just plain fun games for it.

UPDATE: Absence Explained

Kawaii!

I have been neglecting this site as of late and would like to apologize for the lack of updates. Essentially Nintendo is to blame ^_^. One of the problems of having a news site run by a dedicated gamer is that they’ll definitely make playing cool new games a priority over posting news updates on the site. This is exactly what has happened with me. Below is a list of all of the games that I am currently concentrating on playing (so it does not include any of the many games that I am intermittently playing):

Wii

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition

Mario Party 8

Super Paper Mario

Trauma Center

DS

Pokemon Diamond

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (good game, even in Japanese!)

360

Ring of Death’d 🙁

PSP

Me & My Katamari

Loco Roco

Lumines II

Game Cube

Metroid Prime 2

Pikmin 2

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes

So, you can see that my time is amply occupied with this, not to mention my job selling video games most days. ^_^

Anyways, E3 is swiftly approaching and I wanted to assure you that Game Usagi will do our best to give you top-notch coverage of everything interesting that goes down.

-Miyamoto

P.S. We’re hiring!

UPDATE: Add these to the list, thanks to my 3.40 OE-A firmware PSP (and Lumines):

PSP

Illusion of Gaia (SNES)

Megaman Battle Network 6: Cybeast Gregar (GBA)

Final Fantasy VII (PS1)

Nintendo rocks Sony at sales in Japan

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

Wii and PS3

In May, Nintendo sold 251,794 Wii’s in Japan. This is compared to Sony’s 45,321 PS3’s. It’s nearly 5 Wii’s to 1 PS3. In April, the ratio was 4 to 1. Also, in overall sales of Wii vs. PS3 in Japan – the Wii has sold about 2.5x more than the PS3.

The DS is also outselling the PSP about 3 to 1.

All I have to say is: 🙂
