Introducing the Point Review

Monday, January 30th, 2012

checklist

You may have noticed that our recent review of Run Roo Run was shorter than usual, even for an iOS review.  That’s because we’re introducing a new digest-style way of reviewing games.  The nicely categorized nature of our usual reviews is still intact, but instead of requiring you to read through 1500-odd words worth of prose, you can see our main thoughts on each category right away in a format that takes up to 80% less time to read.  Of course, we’ll still be doing the regular reviews that everyone enjoys.  Additionally, if a game gets a point review, that doesn’t eliminate the possibility of it receiving a long-form review too.

The next few reviews that are coming out will be in the new point review format.  Feel free to let us know what you think in the comments or email us at: admin@gameusagi.com

It’s Survey Time!

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Want to earn yourself some extra GP?  Well, you’ve come to the right… page.  Below there are links to three surveys.  The first survey is from Game Usagi and will help us find out what you think about our new features.  The next two surveys are from the University of Saskatchewan regarding what you as a gamer think about Food and Gaming, which are obviously two of the most important things around.  So, if you complete the Game Usagi Survey you’ll get 15 GP, if you complete the two UofS surveys you’ll get 40 GP and if you do all three you’ll get a whopping 60 GP!  (Email miyamoto [at] gameusagi.com after you’ve completed said surveys and the appropriate points will be added to your account.)

Server Upgrade – Pardon our Dust

Monday, May 16th, 2011

We’re upgrading our server currently, so the site may not work at 100% capacity for the next 6 hours or so.  When all is said and done, though, Game Usagi will perform like an even faster and more secure bunny.  There’s some nice things in the upgrade for us too including better stats tracking and automated backups.  So, if you’re having problems with the site today, worry not as all will be better very soon.

April Fools! Review: Uncle Sam

uncle-sam

While we normally review games for all of our brave G.I.s both at home and overseas, I thought that today we should take some time to do a review of good old Uncle Sam.

Site Update: Widescreen

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

It’s been almost a decade since the widespread adoption of widescreen-format monitors and TVs.  The original theme that Game Usagi was built around in 2007 was still catering to the dying crowd of standard definition monitor owners.  Lately this has led to most people viewing Game Usagi having 1/3 of their screen filled with content and the rest with an endless sea of grey.  Now friends, feast your eyes upon an extra 100 pixels of horizontal goodness and a top banner that is only 2/3 of its recent very large size.  Trimmed down and expanded where it matters, Game Usagi is now a sleeker beast ready to give you images that aren’t squished on the front page and more page options in the navigation bar at the bottom of the site.  Enjoy.
