Social Log-In is Back!

Friday, July 6th, 2012

Well, that didn’t take very long! We’ve switched social log-in plugins and please feel free to test it out using the sign-in link in the sidebar and tell us how it’s working, as everything seems a-okay now.  We’ve also expanded the usable social networks to include: Facebook, Twitter, Google, Windows Live, LinkedIn, and Steam.  If you have any problems connecting to old accounts or accessing your GP contact admin@gameusagi.com and we’ll have everything fixed for you in a jiffy.

Social Log-in Upgrades

Friday, July 6th, 2012

The social sign-in solution that we have been using for the past while with Game Usagi has decided to stop working as well as it used to.  Now when you log-in to Game Usagi, either with a password or with a social media account, it appears like you haven’t signed-in until you refresh the page that you’re on.  To fix this, we’re temporarily disabling social log-ins as we move to a new social log-in system that hopefully won’t present as many problems as our current solution.  Please bear with us during this short transition period and we’ll tell you when everything’s back up and running.

Game Usagi Staff Featured in Eurogamer E3 Gallery

Friday, June 15th, 2012

We were just browsing the E3 galleries of other websites and discovered that our Editor-in-chief (me) and Photographer (Sir Shiggy) were featured in the E3 2012 Photo Gallery on Eurogamer.net.  That’s us in the 6th picture there waiting in line for the Microsoft conference to open it’s doors.  I guess we’re even more internet-famous now than we already were, thanks for thinking we’re cool, Eurogamer!

Planetside 2 Beta Giveaway [UPDATE 2]

Friday, June 15th, 2012

[UPDATE 1: The first 10 first-come-first-served beta keys have been claimed.  We will still be accepting entries into the draw for the last five until midnight (CST) on Monday, June 18th. No late entries will be accepted.]

[UPDATE 2: The contest is now closed, thanks to everyone for participating and we hope that if you started a Game Usagi account for this contest that you enjoy levelling up your account by earning GP.  The five people who won the final draw should receive their beta keys via email shortly.]

Hey, everyone.  There were a lot of codes flying around at E3 for various betas, apps, etc. and with three of us there, we usually obtained more than we could use.  With PlanetSide 2, the promising upcoming free-to-play MMOFPS, we were lucky enough to get our hands on 15 beta invitations that we are going to share with you!  The first 10 will be given away to the first 10 people to complete the giveaway requirements, and the last 5 will be distributed at random between the remaining entrants.  Would you like to be one of the first to try out this exciting new game?  This is what you need to do for your chance to get a beta key:

1. Create (or already have) a Game Usagi account by signing-up using either a social network account or just making a username/password using the links at the top of our sidebar.  We don’t send out newsletters or list/use your email in any way that would ever send you spam, it’s basically only asked for in case you forget your password.

2. Email admin@gameusagi.com with your Game Usagi username in the body and the subject “Planetside 2 Giveaway”.

3. Profit.

If you are one of the ones to “win” a beta key, it will be emailed to you along with instructions on how to redeem it.

E3 Videos and Impressions Inbound Soon

Friday, June 8th, 2012

Our flights back to good old Canada commence (and take up much of) tomorrow.  While we’ll be in the air for the most part, we have a 4 hour layover in Calgary during which time I plan to find some airport WiFi and start getting down to the brass tacks of my E3 2012 game impressions.  So, look out tomorrow for some more of our thoughts on both the big and little games shown off at this year’s E3.

No E3 videos until next week

Thursday, June 7th, 2012

YouTube uploading from our hotel is slow to the point that it would take longer than we have to sleep at night to upload even a small, 3 minute gameplay video.  We will have a ton of great gameplay videos up for many of the games that we played at E3 this week, but it will have to wait until we get home safe and sound to our 50 Mbit/s connection.

This is a mixed blessing, though, as now it frees me up to start posting impressions articles about the games we’ve played/viewed over the last two days.  To ease in posting and allow me to post more of them, I’m not going to bother with giving them nice header images until next week as well.

Sorry for the disappointing lack of non-picture coverage of E3 this week, I assure you everything in our power is being done to try and remedy this situation as early as possible.

Thanks for bearing with us,

-Miyamoto

Arrived Safe in LA!

Monday, June 4th, 2012

Well, the Game Usagi Krew has landed safely in LA and we’re going to catch our scant 5 or so hours of sleep before we’re up and at it covering Microsoft’s big press conference tomorrow.  If you didn’t check out the Nintendo Direct presentation from this afternoon, you should, as Nintendo showed off quite a few things that were previously unknown about the Wii U including an Xbox-style controller in addition to the Wii U GamePad and the very first images of the Wii U’s strange new menu system.

So, until tomorrow enjoy the image above from our hotel room window of a beautiful LA parking lot.
